Guided Visit | Artistic Masterpieces | Spiritual Landmark
Enter the heart of Christianity with a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, the most important church in the Catholic world and one of the greatest architectural achievements in history. Built over the burial site of Saint Peter, this monumental basilica is not only a place of worship but also a treasury of art, history, and spiritual devotion.
Your expert guide will lead you through this vast and awe-inspiring space, revealing its secrets and the stories behind its construction. Admire the majestic dome designed by Michelangelo, rising 136 meters above the floor — a masterpiece of Renaissance engineering that dominates the Roman skyline.
Inside, you’ll discover a wealth of artistic wonders:
Your guide will explain the symbolism and history woven into every detail — from the inscriptions in Latin to the papal traditions still observed today. You’ll also learn how the basilica evolved over centuries, involving great masters like Bramante, Raphael, and Bernini.
For those who wish, the visit can also include access to the Vatican Grottoes or the dome climb for an unforgettable panoramic view over St. Peter’s Square and the rooftops of Rome (optional, depending on the format of the tour).
Travel beyond the city walls to explore one of the most evocative and mysterious areas of Ancient Rome. This tour begins with a scenic drive along the Via Appia Antica, the oldest and most legendary Roman road, flanked by aqueducts, ancient tombs, cypress trees, and early Christian heritage sites.
Your first stop will be the Catacombs, a fascinating underground network of galleries stretching over 150 kilometers. These early Christian cemeteries were dug beneath the surface of the Appian Way during times of persecution under the Roman Empire. Accompanied by an expert guide, you’ll descend into these dimly lit passageways to uncover a world of faith, history, and symbolism hidden beneath the earth.
As you continue the tour by minivan, you’ll pass alongside the ancient Aurelian Walls, built in the 3rd century AD to defend the city’s expanding borders. Still remarkably well-preserved, they serve as a striking reminder of Rome’s imperial strength and strategic ingenuity.
The tour continues with a panoramic view of the Circus Maximus, the largest chariot-racing stadium of Ancient Rome, where over 150,000 spectators once gathered to cheer on their champions.
Then, follow the curve of the Via Appia Antica itself — once known as the “Regina Viarum”, or Queen of Roads — and enjoy the timeless Roman countryside landscape dotted with historic ruins, noble villas, and majestic aqueducts.
End your experience with a stop at the serene Giardino degli Aranci (Orange Garden), perched atop the Aventine Hill. From here, you’ll take in one of the most romantic and sweeping panoramic views over Rome: the Tiber River winding below, St. Peter’s Basilica rising in the distance, and the layered rooftops of the Eternal City bathed in golden light.
Throughout the journey, your expert guide (or driver-guide, depending on the tour format) will share captivating stories, historical context, and cultural insights, creating a rich and immersive experience far from the crowds.

Your walk leads you to the striking silhouette of Castel Sant’Angelo, one of the oldest and most symbolic monuments in the Eternal City. Originally built in the 2nd century AD as the mausoleum of Emperor Hadrian, this monumental structure has undergone extraordinary transformations over time.
In the Middle Ages, the castle was converted into a papal fortress, complete with defensive walls, secret corridors, and even a private escape route to the Vatican. It later became a prison, a treasury, and finally a museum — its powerful cylindrical form standing as a witness to Rome’s many eras of change.
During this external guided visit, you’ll admire the architectural majesty of the castle from the outside and learn about its unique role throughout Roman and papal history. Take in panoramic views of the Bridge of Angels, adorned with Bernini’s sculptures, and enjoy the reflections of ancient stones on the shimmering waters of the Tiber.

A hot visit to the Colosseum!
Had to collect tickets from a shop near to the Colosseum – lady there was most helpful in explaining where we needed to go and to download apps to our phones for the self audio guide (also gave us some free water with the heat!). Found the entrance easy and then enjoyed the tour – only issue was that the GPS signal wasnt great inside so it was difficult to sync the audio guide to what we were looking at. Took a break before doing the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum – we went on a very hot day and it was hard work walking around – make sure you have plenty of water!! Surfaces were very uneven – which is understandble considering its an ancient monument.
Amazing place to visit, weak audio guide
Such an amazing place to visit, it’s easy to understand why this is a must see! The sites were fantastic, but the audio tour was too generic. There were some interesting clips, but not enough about what we were looking at when we were at different points and too much generic history. In retrospect we would have got a lot more from a guide, but it was very nice to go at our own pace.
Unforgettable experience!
This tour was nothing short of amazing! From start to finish, everything was organized, engaging, and informative. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history of the Colosseum to life with fascinating stories, little-known facts, and a real passion for Ancient Rome.
The skip-the-line access was a huge plus—no waiting around in the hot sun! We also got upgraded for an Arena tour and got to explore areas that aren’t always open to the public, which made the experience feel exclusive and even more special.
Very good customer service from Dolly
I was due to travel in August on this holiday however due to operational reasons, the tour may not have run and I was made aware straight away. I dealt with a women called Dolly and she offered me alternative options and we decided to refund the tour which was done promptly. Dolly gave me some brilliant advice and some useful insight to Rome. She was fab!

Good day out
Really enjoyed the experience, can’t remember the tour guide’s name but he was very good. Very informative and detailed on the tour which kept me engaged about the history. It wasn’t as busy as usual which was also a pleasant experience. Highly enjoyable, many thanks.

Well worth it
Really well organised and our guide was great. Really informative and engaging. You wasn’t rushed and had a nice flow to it.
Would highly recommend this. Not sure you’d capture everything without the guide.
